To join Lucian Academy, all you have to do is complete the application below and post it to the joining board. While you wait for the owners to approve you, feel free to nose around the OOC board and get to know everyone! Until your character has been approved, you are NOT, however, allowed to role-play your character on any of the in-character boards. When your application is responded to, you will either be accepted or denied (if you are denied, you will be given a detailed explanation why and will be given suggestions to make your application more acceptable in the future). If you are accepted, you will be given a question for your character to answer that will determine who your character's roommate will be (if any), faculty advisor, and "Big Brother/Sister or Little Brother/Sister". Also note that everyone must answer the question seriously, as it is important to both students' and teachers' standing in Lucian Academy.

POWERS:
POWER STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES: Yep, we don't want any all-powerful gods and goddesses. Flaws are our friends!
RESIDENCE HALL PREFERENCE. Would your character prefer to live in a single or double room? Any preference as to which suite? Which floor? If your character wants a double room, do you have a roommate preference?
CLASSES: make sure you check the classes list to see that your character can take the class and you can use the classes list sorted into periods to choose classes according to where they have already been sorted into periods
GPA: be realistic, it has to match personality and history, if your character has a high GPA, we expect an explanation for it somewhere
CLUBS: if your character is anything other than a Freshman or new student, he or she can be an officer of one club
SPORTS: no character can play two sports in the same season, but it is possible for characters to play one sport in the fall, one in winter, and one in the spring
PET: any non-first year student can have ONE dormitory pet (members of the horseback riding club are allowed to keep a horse in the stables as well as the one dormitory pet); first-year students are permitted to bring one on campus after the end of their first semester
PERSONALITY: Two paragraphs would be the bare minimum. Think about interests, likes, dislikes, whether your character is outgoing or reserved, whether he's the class clown or she's the bitchiest girl in school. And remember that nobody is one-dimensional. He's not only a jock who can't keep his hands out of girls' pants, and she's not only a shy, innocent girl who loves to read. Dimension is what makes characters loveable!
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE: Once again, two paragraphs is just the minimum of what will be accepted. You are allowed to have a picture, but that will NOT be accepted in lieu of a description. Think of hair color, eye color, hair length, face shape, complexion, body type, height, and weight. What color clothes does your character wear? Does she have dimples? What about freckles? Scars, tattoos, piercings? All of that is information that needs to be included here. Basically, this is where you get to tell us how you want us to see your character. If you want your character to have a tattoo, read the FAQ, please.
HISTORY: Don't skimp on it. We expect to see four full paragraphs detailing childhood, family life, adolescence, relationships, friendships, and the animal who chose your character -- if they're not a completely new student.

SPECIES: general/specific i.e. monkey/spider monkey
NAME: the animal's name
GENDER: the animal can have a different gender than the human
APPEARANCE: just so that we know you've done your research, and also to mention anything such as scars or other markings they might have.
PERSONALITY: should reflect their species
RELATIONSHIP: how well, or not so well, the human and the animal get along, what they have in common, what they can't stand about each other
HISTORY: The animal's history. Anything important that he has done, been a part of, or anyone important he has bonded to.

THIRD PERSON RP: 500 words, at least; can be from the point of view of any character, just as long as you feel it's an adequate portrayal of your writing ability.

CHARACTER CONTACT: Yep, that's right. AIM and email for your character, if you want it. It's just another fun way to have interaction between characters.

• NO MORE OVERPROTECTIVE ANIMAL SPIRITS. It's an old, boring story we've all heard before. Check out the FAQ page if you don't understand why we have a reason to set this ban.
• THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT! Please read over the characters we have already accepted into Lucian Academy to make sure that your character isn't too similar to any of them! We don't want four of the same character running around! And plus, a character who is different from the others already accepted into Lucian are more likely to be accepted that one who follows a trend.

NEW RULE. From now on, you can only leave an application on the joining board for FIVE days without some progress having been made. If you need a place to store your application before it's complete, we have a HTML practice board that you can use for that purpose. Basically, it just doesn't look good to see unfinished applications for weeks just sitting on the joining board (especially when we're not an auditioning game and we would skip over an unfinished application in favour of one that might have been posted after that is already finished, anyway).

And also, please, DON'T just post a blank application on the joining board. It's pointless and a waste of space, especially since what you're posting is already on the joining board itself. If you're going to post something, make sure it's at least partially filled out or we'll delete it.
